What Is Vitamins?

What Is Vitamins?“Vitamins are essential biological substances that are necessary for the proper functioning of the body (mainly metabolic processes in the body), although they are in very small amounts in the body”. That’s why sometimes they are also called under-nutrients. The amount of these nutrients is decreasing day by day in our present Indian food system. It is very important to keep the amount of these micro-nutrients in the right proportion in whatever we eat.

But many people do not pay attention to these nutrients and fall prey to many diseases. Therefore, it is necessary to pay proper attention to them as well. I would like to urge that you should also review your diet once based on these low-nutrient elements.

Vitamins Function

  • Vitamins make up the skin, bones, and muscles of our body. Therefore, if you do not eat the proper amount of vitamins in your diet, then your bones will become weak. Your skin will lose its elasticity at a young age and muscles will not develop. So, vitamins are very important.
  • The second biggest function of vitamin is that it repairs the cells of the body. That is to say, it heals the injured cells and tissues. We keep getting hurt due to some reason or the other, so vitamins heal the wounds formed in our bodies. Therefore, injured organs are also cured due to vitamins.
  • You must know about Vitamin C, it is such a vitamin that helps us a lot in fighting external diseases. It increases the amount of W.B.C inside our bodies. Due to which our immune system becomes strong. That’s why doctors are also asking us to eat a diet rich in vitamin C during COVID-19 because it will help us fight corona.
  • Another main function of vitamins is that it helps the body to break down food in the body and convert it into energy.

Types Of Vitamins

So, basically, vitamins are divided into two parts on the basis of their solubility. The first is Water Soluble Vitamins and the second is Fat-Soluble Vitamins. We will talk about them in the future.

Water-Soluble Vitamins:-

Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B7, Vitamin B9, Vitamin B12, and Vitamin C are called water-soluble vitamins. They dissolve easily in water, so they are not able to stay stored inside the body. When their quantity in the body becomes more, then they are removed from the body through urine.

Fat-Soluble Vitamins:-

Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, and Vitamin K are called fat-soluble vitamins because they can be dissolved only through the fat present in the body. It joins the fat particles and comes in the main blood flow of the body and reaches different parts of the body. Although this vitamin can be stored in our liver for a long time to come, even if it is in excess.
